The MCU’s X-Men may have found its Mystique, and many fans agree it’s the right person for the job.
The X-Men are technically already in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but we’re yet to see a fully-formed team. Perhaps Avengers: Secret Wars will give us their full debut though.
So far, the closest we’ve gotten is Deadpool & Wolverine, which featured a Wolverine who let his entire world down by letting the X-Men perish.
Looking to the future, we can expect more X-Men appearances in future MCU projects, and one of the most popular X-Men characters, Mystique, may have already found her face, or at least one of them.

Reports say Hunter Schafer is being considered for the role, a fantastic choice that hopefully comes to fruition.
Previously Mystique was played by Rebecca Romijn in X-Men (2000), X2: X-Men United (2003), and X-Men: The Last Stand (2006). The role was then passed to Jennifer Lawrence who played a younger, more heroic, version of the character in X-Men: First Class (2011), X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014), X-Men: Apocalypse (2016), and X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019).
Hunter Schafer is also a top-pick to play Zelda in the upcoming live-action Legend Of Zelda film.
Fans discussed Schafer playing Mystique in a Reddit thread, with one fan praising the choice saying, “This is the only good rumour I've heard about casting this. She is a great performer.”

Another added: “I want her as Emma Frost, but I'll accept any outcome that involves Hunter Schafer getting work.”
Others were less accepting of the role, not because of Schafer herself but because of many are questioning how important of a role Mystique could play in the MCU at the moment.
It’s a fair point, this the first time the X-Men will share a universe on the big-screen so Marvel Studios might have to be more selective with its roster of heroes and villains this time around.
