Marvel fans have been discussing the prospect of Chris Hemsworth being replaced as the MCU’s Mighty Thor in the new Avengers team.
Perhaps one of the main reasons fans have such a strong connection with the MCU is thanks to its fantastic casting. We will forever see Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man (which will make his role as Doctor Doom so heartbreaking), Chris Evans as Captain America and Chris Hemsworth as Thor.

Some say, all good things must come to an end and Marvel fans who have watched Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame will be very familiar with that saying.

Despite his godly looks, and as much as he’s perfect for the role, Chris Hemsworth can’t play Thor forever, at least with its current iteration.
That being said, when it’s time for Thor to hang up his Mjölnir, I’d love to see him as the king of Asgard, a role once filled by his father, Odin. With that in mind, fans on Reddit have been discussing what the future may hold for the protector of Midgard in the MCU.
“Thor getting replaced by someone else for the new Avengers team?” asked a Reddit user, proposing the idea that sparked conversation on the thread.
“I like your idea personally but Ares was also an Avenger,” replied Next_Ad_8810, suggesting that Thor could be replaced in the MCU by the Greek God of War.

“I would be stunned if Thor isn't in Doomsday or Secret Wars, perhaps even both,” said TelephoneCertain5344.
“They should just settle all the stuff that happened in Thor: Love and Thunder off-screen and tell a new better story,” suggested Smooglabish, a movie that even Chris Hemsworth thought was too cringy.
Marvel nor Disney is yet to announce the fifth Thor movie in the MCU but hopefully, Chris Hemsworth will return sooner rather than later.
The next movie to be released in the MCU is Thunderbolts* on 2 May 2025, which is the end of Phase 5 followed by The Fantastic Four: First Steps on 25 July 2025, which begins Phase 6.
