The Marvel Cinematic Universe is back in its recruiting phase and this time, it has turned its sights to the cast of The Walking Dead to look for its next star.
With many projects on the cards, the MCU shows no signs of slowing down. The past few months has seen many rumours including reports that Mads Mikkelsen is in talks to play Doctor Doom and even the news that Pedro Pascal may be making an appearance in the role of Mister Fantastic.

Most recently however is the confirmation that The Walking Dead’s Steven Yeun is heading back to the MCU to take on the role of the Sentry. Sentry, also known as Robert Reynolds, made his first appearance in The Sentry #1 comic released in 2000. Since then, the character has teamed up with the likes of the Fantastic Four, the Hulk and Spider-Man. He was most recently seen in 2005’s New Avengers as well as making a cameo in The Mighty Avengers and Dark Avengers.

As for the superhero himself, he starts out his story not even being aware he is one. However, he soon remembers his life as the Sentry and that he may be hiding the power of a “million suns” within himself. As with any superhero, he needs an arch-nemesis and the Sentry’s comes in the shape of the Void who will also be returning in an MCU adaptation.
With production in its early stages, we don’t yet know much about what shape the adaptation will take. However, we do know Yeun will be getting an iconic costume in the standard Sentry yellow and blue colours.
“Yeah, he called me, he went in for a costume fitting,” Robert Kirkman revealed. “I hope I’m not... I don’t think this is a spoiler or anything that will get anybody in trouble. I don’t know, maybe. We’ll see. I don’t care. I don’t work for Marvel. What are they going to do to me?”
Yeun will reportedly be making his debut in July 2025 with Marvel’s Thunderbolts.
