Steve Rogers’ incarnation of Captain America has always been a bit of a tragic hero, even out of the MCU.
The Marvel hero is very much the man out of time, being submerged in ice during World War II and waking up in the modern age where everything is different and most of his friends are gone.
Chris Evans played the man out of time beautifully in the MCU, but now it’s Sam Wilson’s job to keep America, and the world, safe.
This year a new comic series is launching for the star-spangled superhero that takes place right after he wakes up from his time as an ice lolly, and the concept art looks gorgeous already.

It’s coming from writer Chip Zdarsky, who many may know from his Daredevil and Spider-Man comic runs, both of which are ace and worth reading if you haven’t already.
The artwork will come from Valerio Schiti, with colours from Frank D’Armata, and you can see some of their work in the concepts posted online.
Also featured alongside Captain America will be Iron Man, sporting one of his classic armour appearances, as well as Reed Richards, AKA Mr Fantastic of the Fantastic Four. The Howling Commandos will also make an appearance.
It looks like a promising series, and one any Captain America fan will enjoy. Chip Zdarsky is an incredible writer as well so I’ve got high hopes for it.

As for the MCU version of the all-American hero we of course have Sam Wilson in the role now, who’s said to be the next leader of The Avengers when the upcoming multiverse ending threat rolls around.
That said rumour has it that Steve Rogers could make a return as a variant, or at least Chris Evans might return as a different character like how Robert Downey Jr has ditched Iron Man for Doctor Doom instead.
