When I think about the MCU nowadays I often think about that lines in Deadpool & Wolverine line, when Deadpool welcomes Logan into the fold but remarks that he’s joining at a low point.
Perhaps that’s too harsh, but I think we can all agree that the current MCU just doesn’t slap like it used to, and if the reviews of Captain America: Brave New World are to be believed that doesn’t seem like it’ll change anytime soon.
Still it’s probably worth seeing, as it’s Sam Wilson’s first true outing as Captain America and Red Hulk is in it too, can’t be that bad right?...right?
Anyway one saving grace of Marvel’s current output is Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man, a new animated series that I wasn’t too sure about at first, but it’s growing on me.

Featuring a new take on Peter Parker where he works for Norman Osbourne it’s the MCU Spider-Man origin we never got, and Charlie Cox’s Daredevil is in it too so what’s not to love there.
The latest superhero to land in the show though is the invincible Iron Man, not the Robert Downey Jr version unfortunately but he’s welcome nonetheless.
Sporting a comic accurate design it was great to see him cameo as he apprehends Doctor Octopus, and the Avengers theme even played for a little bit which really tugs on your heartstrings.
“Love the classic suit” said one fan and “It’s good to see Iron man again” remarked another, though some aren’t fans of the classic design they went with for the series. The modern suits are cool but this version suits the style of the show more.

You can catch Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man on Disney+ right now, and it’s well-worth the watch.
The animation style is a bit jarring at first but you will get used to it, and the writing is nothing but spectacular.
