Marvel brings fan-favourite MCU hero back to life in new trailer

Marvel brings fan-favourite MCU hero back to life in new trailer

This one is sure to Phil your hearts with joy

One of the MCU’s oft-forgotten stars is back in one of their next projects, although they can only be spotted for an entire second in a recent teaser trailer.

Disney released the “Look Ahead” teaser trailer last week, which is absolutely chocked full of content considering it’s less than two minutes long.

The teaser featured info and footage from almost a dozen upcoming Marvel and Disney+ titles, including Eyes of Wakanda, Wonder Man, Ironheart, Marvel Zombies, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and (most importantly to me) Daredevil: Born Again.

The MCU property that got the least love was the five-second long teaser for the third season of What If…? - although we were able to gleam some info regarding one of its cameos from what little footage that’s on offer.

At the 0:56 second mark in the trailer, Nick Fury beams down to some undefined location alongside two random agents and the one and only Phil Coulson.

Coulson appeared in a whole bunch of MCU films, including Iron Man, Thor, Captain Marvel and The Avengers, but the character has been absent from any modern-day MCU films due to his death at the hands of Loki in the first Avengers film.

He did however receive a starring role in the MCU-adjacent TV show Agents Of SHIELD, although Kevin Feige himself has since confirmed that the show is no longer canon in the main MCU timeline.

It’s not quite possible to tell what Phil Coulson is up to in the episode of What If…? that he’s going to feature in, considering there are very few details surrounding the show’s plot, but at least it does imply that the character is still in the forefront of Disney’s mind.

Unfortunately for fans of Agents Of SHIELD though, it’s unlikely we’ll see any of the rest of the cast popping up in any future shows - regardless of how much the fan base would love to see a few of its stars return.
