Marvel brings back fan-favourite Spidey villain to MCU in new trailer

Marvel brings back fan-favourite Spidey villain to MCU in new trailer

We're foolishly excited about this

Some may think it’s weird to have a favourite villain, but we just can't help being drawn to antagonists like this one.

Marvel has a diverse range of villains to select from, however, some are more popular than others.

One fan-favourite is a Spider-Man bad guy who's recently been spotted in a new MCU trailer.

The final season of What If...? is creeping ever closer, unfortunately.

It’s the trailer for the third and final season where fans spied Mysterio.

See if you can spot Mysterio in Marvel's What If...? trailer below.

True to his name, his presence in the trailer is enigmatic, with only one still from the entire trailer depicting his involvement.

We can see Mysterio hooked up to a chair, neon wires and tubes attached to the seat he inhabits.

What this is alluding to is as mysterious as the character.

Much like what the image could mean, fans are also uncertain whether it’ll be Jake Gyllenhaal who’ll be taking on the role once more.

The way in which Spider-Man films are made is such a weird process due to Sony owning the live-action character, but Marvel the animation.

If Gyllenhaal is to return, it wouldn’t be a conflict of interest for him to voice Mysterio for What If...?

Mysterio isn’t just adored by the fandom, Marvel’s Kevin Feige is said to be a big fan of the villain as well.

Surely, then, he’ll continue to appear in the MCU beyond the Disney+ series.

Spidey fans will likely be hoping so, especially given their recent reaction to our new Spider-Man in a surprise teaser.

Fans aren’t impressed by what they’ve seen.

Unless something drastically changes to the formula of the TV show, we’re confident that the last season of What If...? won't leave Spidey fans feeling as disheartened.

It’s not like we have long to wait before the episodes drop; come 22 December, we’ll be able to tune in.
