The Fantastic Four series is one of Marvel’s most iconic and popular franchises and will most likely be adored for many generations to come.
Fantastic Four made its debut in comic book form all the way back in 1961, created by the legendary duo of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Since then, Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic), Susan Richards (Invisible Woman), Benjamin Grimm (The Thing) and Johnny Storm (Human Torch) have been battling the likes of Doctor Doom, the Super Skrull and Galactus, saving the world on countless occasions.
The Marvels is set to release next month. Take a look at the film below.
Unfortuantely, when it comes to live-action movie adaptations, it’s fair to say that at least critically, Fantastic Four has been a consistent flop. So when a new Fantastic Four movie was announced during the 2019 San Diego Comic Con, it took many fans by surprise. That being said, now that Fantastic Four is in the hands of Disney and part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there is some renewed hope that the next movie will finally get it right.

At this time, Matt Shakman has been brought in as the director with Josh Friedman and Jeff Kaplan on the writing team. As for the actors that will play the leading roles, those details are yet to be announced, but that might be about to change soon. Back in April 2023, rumours were circulating that Reed and Susan Richards had been cast.
What’s more, other rumours claimed that Doctor Who and House of the Dragon star, Matt Smith was being considered for the role of Reed Richards. Obviously, at this time, it’s all rumours and speculation, so we should take it with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise.
However, Matt Shakman has teased fans by suggesting that the Fantastic Four cast in the MCU has finally been assembled. When speaking to Collider, Shakman teased that the cast has been put together, but due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, no announcement can be made until that situation is resolved.
In terms of what fans can expect with the latest Fantastic Four reboot, Shakman said: “It's different in so many ways. I wish I could be specific. I wish I could say more. But we are doing things very differently from a story standpoint, from an approach to the filmmaking standpoint, that really fits the material. I wish I could say more. I would love to, but I can't. But I think it's going to be unlike anything you've seen before, and certainly unlike anything at Marvel that you've seen before.”
