Ryan Reynolds has recently dished out some new info regarding Deadpool’s next entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it sounds a bit smaller scale than we expected, but in a good way.
Reynolds recently sat down with TIME’s Solcyré Burga for an interview regarding his storied career and his box office plans for the future, and the interviewer made sure to sneak in a little Deadpool-related question right at the end.
When asked whether Deadpool might pop up in a supporting role as a member of one of the MCU’s bigger teams down the line, Reynolds had this to say regarding Wade’s future.

“If [Deadpool] becomes an Avenger or an X-Man, we're at the end,” Reynolds revealed.
“That's his wish fulfilment, and we can't give him that.”
Although the answer is relatively non-committal, he did reveal something else interesting.
“[I’m] writing a little something right now…” he continued, “it's an ensemble.”

Obviously there’s not too much we can gleam from that, but it does sound like it’ll be a bit smaller scale than Deadpool’s latest outing, Deadpool & Wolverine.
Over on the r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers subreddit, fans actually seem happy to hear that Wade’s next film will be something a bit more paired back.
“Post Secret Wars, I'd love to see the "stop motion and sundance movie" smaller scale type ideas come to fruition,” commented user ViggieSmallss.
“The nature of the character allows those ideas to feel more organic.”

“The surprising thing here is where he admits to currently writing a small ensemble piece, replied user FolkPunkResistance.
“I would have thought Deadpool would have a small cameo in Secret Wars in a role similar to the size of the Johnny Storm role in DP&W. Although that still might be the case even as we might also get another DP film post-Secret Wars.”
Honestly, this all sounds great and all, but as long as we get that Deadpool and Spider-Man team up, I don’t really care what happens.
Give the people what they want, Disney.
