Avengers: Doomsday is way closer than we were expecting

Avengers: Doomsday is way closer than we were expecting

A future blockbuster is almost here

Avengers: Doomsday is just one of many Marvel projects upcoming over the next few years but despite fans believing it would be a while before we see it, a recent announcement has proved them wrong.

The next few years will be jam-packed for Marvel fans with movies, television shows and video games featuring our favourite heroes set to dominate the media landscape.

Check out the trailer for the most recent Avengers entry, Avengers: Endgame, below!

No change there then.

However, with our Avengers not being seen together since Avengers: Endgame in 2019, it is perhaps unsurprising that the majority of fans are looking forward to Phase Six.

For those unaware, Phase Six of Marvel’s future will kick off with Fantastic Four and conclude with a two-part Avengers film series.

Consisting of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, a recent interview with Joe Russo at New York Comic-Con has revealed that filming for Doomsday will begin as early as Spring 2025.

Speaking to Collider’s Steve Weintraub, a release date for Avengers: Doomsday is still set for May 2026 but filming is set to begin a lot sooner than we all thought.

You know what that means? A whole lot of on-set photographs are coming soon.

As for what else we currently know about Doomsday, there is not much.

What we do know is that Robert Downey Jr. will be returning to the MCU but as Doctor Doom rather than Tony Stark and the project was previously known as The Kang Dynasty.

Additionally, Kevin Feige has confirmed that all four members of The Fantastic Four will star alongside Downey Jr. in the next Avengers entry.

With The Fantastic Four: First Steps set to hit cinemas on 25 July 2025, we can expect Avengers: Doomsday around a year later so it will be interesting to see how the storyline is set up.

Either way, fans are excited with the recent Doomsday announcement.

“Those set photos are about to be godly”, one comment read.

Another said: “It will be a fun day when we get our first set photos..

Never thought it would take 7 years after Endgame for the next Avengers movie.”
