The Witcher news has been very mixed lately, hasn’t it? Even though this week, fans of the Netflix show have been getting very upset over the announcement that Henry Cavill is being replaced with Liam Hemsworth in season four, just a few days prior, it was confirmed that a full remake of the first Witcher game is in the works - something which people were far happier about.
It’s fair to say that The Witcher does feel very dated now - the 2007 title isn’t nearly as easy to go back to as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Hopefully then, the Unreal Engine 5 remake will fix just that - it’s currently in early in development at the Polish studio Fool’s Theory, and a bunch of veteran Witcher staff are involved.

Given that the game is still in its early stages though, chances are that it’s going to be quite some time before we actually see any of it. That said, we know have a bit of an idea for what it could look like, thanks to a new gameplay concept trailer from YouTube creator TeaserPlay.

Thanks to the power of Unreal Engine 5, Lumen and Nanite, as well as ray-tracing, The Witcher has never looked better. The scenery is particularly gorgeous - if the real remake ends up looking anything like this, fans are in luck. Take a look below and bask in 4K Geralt’s glory.
Back to the official series, and it’s not just a remake of The Witcher on the horizon. CD Projekt Red have confirmed that a bunch of new games are currently in the works, including one that will aim to reach a wider range of people, including those who’re fans of the Netflix show. Who knows, maybe in that game, Geralt will resemble one of the Netflix stars? Which one, however, is another matter.
