In recent days, all eyes have been fixed on Henry Cavill when it comes to talking about The Witcher franchise. In case you missed it, Cavill has chosen to depart the Netflix series with Liam Hemsworth taking on the role of Geralt of Rivia in the fourth season. In the days since, fans have been petitioning against the move in addition to trying to work out exactly what’s gone on.
I’m going to push all the drama to one side for a moment though because let’s not forget, CD Projekt RED recently announced some very exciting Witcher related news. Essentially, there are a ton of games on the way. We’ve got The Witcher Remake, the new multiplayer project, plus a brand new trilogy kick-started by The Witcher 4 - and we now know that’ll be directed by a CDPR veteran.

The Witcher 4 was actually announced back at the beginning of this year but just last month, we discovered that this would mark the start of a new trilogy. Although we’re calling it The Witcher 4, the game won’t necessarily be a continuation of The Witcher 3 but a veteran of that game is now onboard. Sebastian Kalemba will direct The Witcher 4 alongside its two sequels.

Announcing the news on Twitter, Sebastian wrote, “Career news: I’m directing the new Witcher Saga. Since joining CD Projekt RED I believe nothing is impossible and raising the bar, telling emotional stories & creating worlds is what we’re here for. I’m proud to be part of CDPR and work with such a talented and passionate team.”
The developer is no stranger at CDPR having first joined the company in 2014. Sebastian worked as a lead animator on The Witcher 3 and the Heart of Stone expansion, and later as head of animation and animation director on Blood and Wine and Cyberpunk 2077. It appears that The Witcher 4 is in safe hands.
