Everyone thought they were done with The Witcher 3, but it isn’t done with us.

Balatro is one of the most memorable experiences of 2024, not least of all because it blew our minds with its “chaotically brilliant” rogue-like take on poker.

GAMINGbible’s Dan Lipscombe spoke of how “remarkably engaging” the game is, eventually scoring it an eight out of 10 for its excellence.
We believed that our time with Balatro was finished, which was a hard pill to swallow.
However, much like with The Witcher 3, there’s more tales to tell.
On 27 August, fans were surprised by the announcement that a Balatro and Witcher 3 collaboration is now available for all players who want to get their Gwent on (kind of).
Balatro’s creator, known as LocalThunk, made the big reveal following its unveiling at the latest Nintendo Direct and Indie World showcase.

“I had to keep this secret for SO LONG,” they posted on Twitter, “But I am incredibly excited to announce some collabs with other amazing games!”
As far as fans are concerned, this is the “best news of the entire Direct”.
It isn’t just returning players who are excited, those who’ve only heard of the game via reviews and/or friends are also eager to play.
“Well, this worked because now I'll be buying Balatro despite having no idea how to play it or general interest in card games. Keep up the great work!” commented Shawn Matthews, also on Twitter.
