Fallout features some pretty nasty creatures; I certainly wouldn’t like to come up against a deathclaw in real life.
You don’t encounter as many horrifying creatures though as you might in, say, Resident Evil.
From Queen Leech to Marguerite Baker, there are plenty of beings in that series that have kept me awake at night.

What if I said you could blend the best of both worlds? That’s pretty much what you end up with in Nordcurrent’s recently launched Chains of Freedom.
This one’s a turn-based post-apocalyptic tactics game, set in a fictional Eastern European country overrun by some rather nasty foes.
Take a look at Chains of Freedom in action below.
“Step into a thrilling turn-based tactics game set in a fictional, dystopian Eastern European state. Lead an elite military squad as you navigate perilous missions filled with danger, deceit, and moral dilemmas,” reads the synopsis.

“As you delve deeper into a conspiracy threatening your nation, engage in high-stakes tactical combat that demands precision with every move. Arm your team with a variety of weapons and gear, adapt their skills to meet ever-changing challenges, and confront intense missions that push your resolve to its limits. Uncover the truth in a world where the nation’s fate lies in your hands.”
You’ll be able to select from a wide range of weapons, as mentioned, from meat hooks to flamethrowers; it sounds as if things will get messy.
The journey you embark on will take you through all kinds of landscapes, “from grimy, abandoned urban landscapes to hidden forest laboratories and fortified military bases”.
The game launched a few days ago and has already secured a ‘Very Positive’ review score on Steam.

Critics were slightly less favourable, with the game achieving a score of 67 on PC on Metacritic.
Many praised the game’s combat but criticised its overall ability to be anything other than largely generic.
You can actually sample the game for free on Steam though if you are eager to give it a try as a free demo is now available.
The game is also available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S although the demo doesn’t appear to be included on console.
