
Bloober Team has set themselves up as the gold standard of horror, through their own games, and adapting franchises like Silent Hill.
Knowing they have a new game coming is exciting, and Cronos: The New Dawn looks to be pulling inspirations from all over the horror landscape.

Coming this year, to PC and consoles, Cronos: The New Dawn looks to be merging extreme body horror, lots of alien creatures, and plenty of dark and dank environments.

It’s hard not to see Dead Space in the footage from the latest trailer, which has our protagonist decked out in a spacesuit, though maybe it’s more of a hazmat suit.
Bloober has set this horror adventure in a grim world based on Eastern European cities, though each here is derelict and crumbling.
Playing as a traveller, your goal is to trek through the wastelands of the future, in a time-hopping nightmare, searching for time rifts to escort you back to 1980s Poland.
While this title is heavily sci-fi, it’s hard to ignore the survival horror aspects of Resident Evil, or Silent Hill.

It’s no surprise, given the pedigree of Bloober and their history with Silent Hill 2, and they’ve kept on track with horrifying enemies here.
Each monster we see in the new trailer is made up of humanoid creatures, bursting with tentacles, which allow them to merge with other dead bodies, warping and twisting with disgusting results.
Think The Thing, crossing over with Silent Hill, but sci-fi, and you’re on the right track.
While watching the trailer this morning, I was surprised by how much this reminded me of Returnal, a massively underrated gem on PS5.

These are all wonderful ingredients in a horrific stew making up Cronos, which will be emerging from the shadows later this year for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
