Unreal Engine 5 may have been unveiled to world over two years ago, but we're still only just starting to understand what the powerful new engine can really do.
Rooted, a new project from a team of just five developers, is an incredibly impressive showcase of UE5's power. Inspired by the post-apocalyptic beauty of The Last Of Us, Rooted is aiming to leverage the new-gen engine to create a stunning survival game in an open world that has been reclaimed by nature. The results so far are staggeringly pretty.
You can take a look at a few brief videos of the project in action below, though be aware it's still very early days for Rooted.
Little is known about the game at this stage, save for the fact it's a survival co-op experience set in an open world. Lord knows we've enough of those already, but when it's this pretty? It's hard not to be interested.

Of course, I should point out that one 17-second clip, as impressive and detailed as it may be, is not necessarily indictive of what the finished project will look like. An open-world game that consistently looks this good, made by just five people, is a hugely ambitious undertaking. Keep your expectations in check, in other words.
For now, you can follow along with the game's development on Twitter, where the team posts regular updates, screenshots, and other behind-the-scenes goodies to drool over.
