The Elder Scrolls 6 remains a mystery to this day, despite having been in development for the last six years.
However, a recent rumour surrounding the next Bethesda instalment has fans extremely worried about the studio repeating a recent mistake.

With The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim being considered a modern-day classic, it is no wonder that Bethesda has a lot to live up to when it comes to the next instalment in The Elder Scrolls series.

That being said, with the studio keeping information surrounding The Elder Scrolls 6 close to its chest, it is down to rumours to give us some insight into how development is going.
However, with the most recent rumour hinting at TES VI potentially featuring two settings: Hammerfell and High Rock, fans are concerned that the game may fall into the same trap as Bethesda’s latest RPG, Starfield.
Known for its exceptionally large and procedurally generated open-world, 2023’s Starfield was criticised for being empty and hollow, proving that more is not always best when it comes to RPGs.
Now it seems as though The Elder Scrolls 6 may fall into the same trap by not keeping the story condensed across a single province, much like previous entries.

As a result, fans recently took to r/TESVI to share their frustrations over this possible decision.
One user said, “Honestly I think it would be too much. Think back on how many cities they cut from Skyrim, and what happened to places like Winterhold.
Two provinces is way too much for Bethesda, and the game would end up being very shallow.”
Users Hometortoise and Skeletor_with_Tacos agreed, adding the following comments:

“I think this is too much, I would love for that to happen.
But I'd rather have them focus on one culture/area and have others for DLC. The directors give us great stuff, but honestly feel like what you're asking is beyond their limitations.
For lack of better wording, better to avoid fatigue and oversight.”
“I played Starfield, I've seen what it's like when they spread themselves thin. I'd rather just have 1 country and be focused, than 2 and be thin.”

Of course, the potential two settings is just a rumour and has not been confirmed by Bethesda, but let us hope it remains just that with so many fans not being on board with the ambitious idea.
