Who likes free video games? Of course, you do, especially when it concerns one that is highly regarded by fans.
During today’s cost of living crisis, it’s vital that we save money wherever we can. However, it’s perhaps more vital, today more than ever, that we have positive distractions from our worldly woes providing us with a boost for our mental health. Perhaps no better boost is better provided than our beloved video games. Especially when those games are free.

One such free video game is the visual novel, Ballads at Midnight from indie developer Synstoria, published by Abiding Bridge. At the time of writing, Ballads at Midnight has scored ‘Very Positive’ from Steam reviews.

“When a sarcastic bard is arrested and exiled to an abandoned castle, she is expected to be at the mercy of a hungry, blood-thirsty vampire. She soon discovers that the vampire, Lucius, is not starving: he is gravely bored. She may just survive on borrowed time, one ballad each midnight,” reads the synopsis.
The Steam review section is full of comments such as: “Ballads at Midnight is a captivating dark fantasy visual novel. The banter between the sarcastic bard and the bored vampire, Lucius, is a constant source of entertainment,” from Steam user Wolveruno.
“The artwork for this game is devastatingly beautiful and the story was far above my expectations,” exclaimed Rottly. “The characters had depth, and there are some meaningful choices that provide different endings. I really enjoyed this game and look forward to the next.”
