We’re halfway there, my friends.
There may be only 50% of the weekend remaining, but you still have plenty of time to enjoy Steam’s latest free offering.
Relic Entertainment is currently running a free weekend for Company of Heroes 3, but the event draws to a close when the clock strikes midnight.

If you’re unfamiliar with this particular franchise instalment, Company of Heroes 3 initially landed in 2023 to pretty positive reviews.
Over on Metacritic, it boasts a score of 81 on PC based on over 70 reviews.
Interestingly, it didn’t land quite as well with reviewers on PlayStation 5, securing a mixed score of 70.
But it’s the PC iteration that’s relevant here.

NME, amongst others, even awarded the game a perfect score of 10, writing, “Company of Heroes 3 is probably the best RTS of the last decade. A wealth of single-player content and a solid foundation for long-term multiplayer action have combined to make this a cinematic WW2 masterpiece that’s essential for strategy games.”
Split Fiction is out now - and it’s the year’s highest-rated game so far.
As NME’s review states, Company of Heroes 3 is a real-time strategy game that, according to the synopsis, “combines heart-pounding combat with deeper strategic choices in a stunning Mediterranean theatre of war”.

I should mention that this free weekend comes shortly after devs dropped the game’s 2.0 anniversary update.
That update brought the Fire & Steel DLC, several new battlegroups, the addition of five maps (some new, some returning), while devs also made a number of audio, campaign, and multiplayer balance changes.
Unfortunately, Company of Heroes 3 is only free to play during the weekend.
You can’t claim and play it after the event draws to a close.

That being said, if you do enjoy what you can sample for free this weekend, there is a concurrent offer running should you wish to pick up the full game.
The game is currently available for £23.99, which is a whopping 50% off the usual price.
That offer is running until 13 March so you’ve got slightly longer to take advantage of it.
