Dark Souls now has a remake in Unreal Engine 5 and it looks pretty gorgeous. Praise the sun!
The original Dark Souls is well over a decade old, but that hasn’t stopped players from around the world from expressing their love for it.
With Demon’s Souls got a fancy PS5 remake in 2020, fans of the series have hoped that Dark Souls could receive the same treatment. But aside from a remaster in 2018, nothing has come of that yet.

Are you looking forward to Elden Ring: Nightreign?
Now, a fan has shared images on Reddit of what a Dark Souls remake in Unreal Engine 5 would look like.
The concept shows off Firelink Shrine, the first area Dark Souls begins in after the prologue. And from what we can see, it looks absolutely gorgeous.

Many of the comments agree too, praising the artist for doing a faithful recreation of the game in a new engine.
“My God, a justified and well crafted use of UE5 and not just an asset dump into the engine? Stunning,” wrote one comment.
“This is gorgeous,” another wrote. “I really wish From would put more effort into graphical fidelity sometimes.”

Some have even expressed how much they’d love to see a new remake of the first Dark Souls.
“I really want to see a remake of DS1 someday with modern graphics, updated combat, and the second half of the game touched up,” one person wrote.
“I think it'd be their best game. DS1's lore and world were the best of any from game.” Agreed!
One thing that really sticks out about this concept is just how well the art direction for Dark Souls holds up. By bringing it into an updated engine, the visuals look better than ever while still retaining that classic Dark Souls feeling.

It doesn’t quite have that artificial Unreal Engine shine that a lot of other fan remakes have, which usually completely destroys the atmosphere of the original.
Hopefully an actual Dark Souls remake from FromSoftware is on the cards. And if it is, make it look like this please!
