If you’ve been able to imagine it as a video game, chances are someone has created a concept trailer for it. Fans of Peaky Blinders have likely wondered what the exploits of Tommy Shelby and co would look like as a game, allowing players to delve deeper into the lore, the crime, the drama, and the grime of 1900s Birmingham. Well, that wondering can stop, at least for now, as Peaky Blinders gets the Unreal Engine 5 treatment in a stunning trailer.
Depicted as an open-world RPG, its locations hum with the same kind of energy that the TV show delivers, and while the sound cuts out early on in the trailer, it still doesn’t take away from the ambience of all that untapped potential. It’s almost sad that this is only an Unreal Engine fan-made project rather than an authentic creation from well-known devs. Still, that hasn’t dampened the spirits of the fans clamouring to see more, even if it’s just a second teaser trailer.
Just look at how incredible the Peaky Blinders concept trailer is!
“I think this is a very good concept for a game,” says YouTube user kylewilliamson1275. “To do it [the] best, I would explore the areas not explored by the series i.e. in-between the series, and a conclusion to what happens after S6 with Fin and Duke, etc. This is a very good game concept and could be one of the best games to come out if it did.”

Another would-be player also agreed that, for such a game to work, it would need to offer an additional layer to what occurred in the series, instead of simply rehashing stories we already know. “The thing is, even though the graphics and environment would be amazing, the story of Peaky Blinders isn't something most people would want to play.”
They continue, “It would, in my opinion, be better to use the world and adapt instead. Create a different story arc around the same concept: a small gang growing to be a big player in a world full of them. [Because] following the TV series step by step would just eventually become a bore, you know exactly what happens, you know exactly what you're working towards.”
Even if this game existed, though, with other titles like Red Dead Redemption II already taking the crown of being the “best open-world game ever created”, it would need to exceed other RPGs, which is a tall order when you’re working with lore already deeply ingrained in the minds of its fans. Granted, RDR II also needed to follow lore lay down in the first game, but it was lore the devs could tweak because little was known about the world they were delivering in the sequel; basing a game on a TV show doesn’t allow for this. At least, not unless you use only the skeleton and completely re-imagine the meat of the story.
That being said, I think we can all agree that there’s potential here, a possibility that could thrive in the hands of Rockstar Games or similar devs.
