tI don’t know if I’m alone in thinking this but Kylo Ren is one of the biggest missed opportunities of the Star Wars sequels, on par with Finn not becoming a Jedi by the end of the trilogy.
His first appearance in Star Wars: The Force Awakens might have been meme’d to high heaven for his petulant tantrums when things didn’t go his way but I thought it made the character far more interesting. What can be scarier than a Darth Vader-like villain without the years of discipline holding back his rage?
It could have made for some excellent stories moments later down the line, but then they threw it all away with the next film
The wider lore has been a bit kinder to Kylo though, like a new prequel called Star Wars: Legacy of Vader which sees our hero(?) on the hunt for more information about his grandfather, whom he idolises.

During an attempt to destroy Vader’s old fortress on Mustafar Kylo is stopped by Vaneé, Vader’s old assistant who offers to teach him more about the Sith Lord.
The comic book series is still in its early days at the moment but that hasn’t stopped fans from theorising where it might be going next, and how it’ll explain some of Kylo’s behaviour in the films.
Speculation has it that Kylo might be visited by Anakin’s force ghost, who could attempt to reason with his grandson and persuade him to ditch his evil scheming and return to Luke and his parents.
We know in the films that Kylo was being communicated with by something, which turned out to be Palpatine subtly bringing him over to the Dark Side to exact his revenge against the light.

Hopefully this series will give us more answers than we go in the sequels, though I don’t think anything will save that trilogy and its sloppy storytelling.
