Sonic the Hedgehog is a pretty important guy when it comes to video game adaptations. This year’s Sonic the Hedgehog 2 went on to become the most successful video game adaptation of all time, and I do hope this is a sign of what’s to come. With Horizon Zero Dawn, The Last of Us, God of War, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid, and Ghost of Tsushima adaptations all on the way (and that’s just to name a few), it would be nice to think that video game adaptations have turned a corner. In fact, Netflix have dropped a trailer for the new Sonic Prime series and fans are feeling optimistic.
Check out the brand new teaser trailer for Sonic Prime below.
Sonic Prime is officially set to release on Netflix this winter, and the 3D series will see the famous hedgehog race “through the Green Hill Zone in a desperate attempt to save his friends — and the very multiverse itself,” according to Netflix’s synopsis. The first teaser trailer shows Sonic, Eggman, Big the Cat and Shadow in action.

Thankfully, it looks like fans are liking what they see. Users took to Reddit to share their approval of the trailer. Glen1812 wrote: “This could be the best year for Sonic content ever,” whilst Due_Lion_2990 added: “Not even gonna lie, this got me EXCITED. The animation looks pretty good (not perfect, but it's expressive and bouncy and the sync is great), and Sonic's voice sounds energetic and full of attitude. I'm really excited to see what comes out of this show, since the premise sounds interesting.”
Ok-Reporter-8728 continued the acclaim, writing: “The vibe was pretty serious, surprisingly, we only got one line from Sonic but the new voice actor suits him well.” MrShadow583 added: “This looks awesome, the Egg Dragoon is back, some classic Sonic vs Shadow action, and the animation is super clean and smooth. Love this.” All in all, high praise.
