Skyros is a seriously ambitious new mod that converts the entirety of Skyrim into the world of Westeros from Game of Thrones, and with one year of work under the team's belts, it's looking absolutely amazing.
To be fair, a lot of the foundation is there. Magic, tick. Dragons, tick. Ice and snow, tick. However, the team isn't interested in only replicating Winterfell. Recreating a "geographically accurate Skyrim-sized map of Westeros" with every "prominent characters and locations from the series," this might be the closest we come to an open-world, sprawling RPG rendition of the immensely popular fantasy series.
Here's how to find the Grafted Blade Greatsword in Elden Ring, a beastly weapon that looks like the Iron Throne from Game of Thrones. There's no business end of this sword - it's all the business ends.
That's not to slight either Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series or Reigns: Game of Thrones, by the way, which excellently brought George R. R. Martin's world into a new medium in two very different ways. Likewise, players of Skyros will be able to affect the political landscape of Westeros, with their actions inciting changes as far as the arid south of the continent.
"We intend to have a branching quest-line based on the events of the books/show and provide choices at pivotal moments in the story, so the player can steer things in their own direction and influence Westeros to their liking," explained the team in the Discord server (which you can join here).

With House of the Dragon debuting in just over a week's time, there is sure to be a serious surge of interest in a virtual holiday to Westeros. While the mod has no specified release date yet, patience is a virtue. It's so, so important not to rush things like this. So important not to shorten a season to six episodes and cram character development and plot points in like a dolphin would stack a dishwasher. Anyway.
