What is better than The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Elden Ring? A free download that combines the best of both worlds to make an epic quest for fans of the fantasy RPGs
Despite belonging to different developers and having a ten-year gap between releases, both The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Elden Ring can be considered as two of the best RPGs of all time. With one telling the story of a Dragonborn and the other the story of the Tarnished, the two titles are two sides of the same coin which seemingly can’t be improved. However, what if we combined the two?

Thankfully, one modder over at Nexus Mods has done just that by creating the ‘The Hunt for the Spectre’ mod for Skyrim inspired by Elden Ring. The quest, from nimwraith, tells the story of Ren, a man who must hunt a serial killer known as the Spectre. With multiple endings and “incredibly high quality voice acting”, this mod is a must-play for Skyrim players.

As Ren hunts down the mysterious necromantic serial killer, you will learn more about the mysteries surrounding this villain as well as Ren’s motivation to hunt them down. Player’s actions will affect the ending and with multiple to choose from, you will be able to play through the quest multiple times.
Not only that but custom assets can be used to truly immerse the player in the experience which takes “heavy inspiration from Elden Ring and the Souls series as a whole” in its writing style.
As well as brand-new locations to explore, a unique storyline and questline, a fully voiced cast and even two new armour sets to choose from, The Hunt for the Spectre is a free but epic adventure courtesy of the game’s impressive modding community. If you’re still not sure, check out this trailer giving you a sneak peek of the questline.
