What do you get when you add Baldur’s Gate 3 mechanics to Elden Ring? A much harder game, I’ll tell you that.
FromSoftware has cornered the market when it comes to difficulty in games, with its latest release Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree considered too difficult by even its most hardcore fans.

However, a new mod for Elden Ring arguably makes the game 10 times harder, by introducing game mechanics found in another RPG, Baldur’s Gate 3.

For those who don’t know, Baldur’s Gate 3 takes a lot of inspiration from Dungeons & Dragons, allowing you to create an in-depth character and full freedom over how the game plays out, but only if you get the right dice rolls.
At the time of writing, it’s called the W.I.P Traditional RPG Mod, and it’s compatible with the base game, the expansion and even the online multiplayer mod so you can put a whole D&D party together.
Each class in the game has been revamped to have different attributes, with the mages in particular getting a serious buff making them a superb choice for those who like magic attacks or want a slightly easier time in the game.
Skill trees have also been added and a number of weapons have been tweaked to only work with a specific character class.

There are many, many, many more changes to talk about, and you can see the full list of what’s different on the mod’s official page.
If you’ve played Elden Ring to death and have already gotten bored of the Shadow Of The Erdtree expansion, this Baldur’s Gate 3 style mod might be exactly what you need to get back into the game.
The work-in-progress mod is available to download for free from NexusMods, so don’t sleep on it, especially if you like Dungeons & Dragons.
