Steam quietly makes hit game free, but you’ve just 1 week

Gamers on Steam, and also Xbox, have a free game they can download and keep forever, but only until July.

Usually when Steam is giving freebies away they’re pretty unimpressive, usually boiling down to indie games more than anything too substantial.

That’s not the case this time though as a smash-hit game is now free to play and keep, and it’s on Xbox too.

It’s called Tell Me Why, an episodic tale about two siblings with supernatural powers that let them see into the past.

They share quite a troubled past together with the aim of the game being to bring them a bit of closure, by reliving core memories and understanding both each other and themselves as a result.

Being an episodic game it’s in multiple parts and the three chapters are available on both Steam and Xbox as free downloads right now.

There are no strings attached here, they’re yours to keep forever if you fancy giving them a go, and the reviews should be more than enough to convince you they’re worth the download.

You don’t have long to grab them though as they’ll return to their original price on 1 July, so you’ve got around a week to claim your freebies.

If you’re playing on Xbox you can also play Tell Me Why through Xbox Game Pass, it doesn’t seem to be leaving the subscription anytime soon but still if you claim the freebie you’ll own it rather than borrow it.

Again this is a bit of a rarity for Steam, as great freebies tend to be few and far between. If you’re looking for more consistent AAA freebies you’ll want to check out the Epic Games Store, which regularly has the good stuff each and every month.

Don’t miss your chance to add Tell Me Why to your library though, it’s a great story and one that’s worth trying while it’s free.
