Just in case you’d forgotten, a new RoboCop game is set to release in the year of our lord 2023. Yes, really.
First announced during the Nacon Direct show back in July 2021, RoboCop: Rogue City is clearly setting itself up to be a love letter of sorts to the original RoboCop movie trilogy, as it'll apparently boast a new story based on the first three films. A new gameplay trailer shows that the game is oozing with Cyberpunk 2077 vibes, and is also surprisingly brutal.
Take a look at the latest trailer for RoboCop: Rogue City below.
Sorry, can we just take a moment to acknowledge the enemy right near the end who quite literally explodes into fleshy chunks? I’m not saying that we’re looking at The Callisto Protocol levels of blood and gore here, but still. It doesn’t seem like this’ll be a game for those with weak stomachs.

“Become the iconic part man, part machine, all cop hero as you attempt to bring justice to the dangerous, crime-ridden streets of Old Detroit,” the game’s description on Steam reads. “Armed with your trusty Auto-9, factory-built strength, years of experience on the force and a variety of tools at your disposal, you will fight forces seeking to destroy the city you call home in an all new first-person, explosive hunt for the truth. You have the power to decide how to fulfil prime directives in your own way, but as the story unfolds proceed with caution because corruption and greed know no limits.”
The game is being developed by Teyon, the team behind 2019's Terminator: Resistance, which was far from spectacular. For the sake of nostalgic RoboCop fans everywhere, here’s hoping that the devs have learned a few lessons since then.
RoboCop: Rogue City is currently set to launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC sometime in September.
