Future Resident Evil remakes have been teased by Capcom, as hype for Code: Veronica intensifies.
This week, Capcom sent out a survey asking its fans as well, as members of the Resident Evil Ambassador program, a series of questions in regard to the beloved survival horror franchise. Having taken part in the survey myself, I can confirm that many of the questions were quite generic, such as rating the series out of ten, whether you would recommend it to others, what platforms you play on, and so forth.
If you haven't yet dived into the Resi 4 remake, take a look at our review below.
However, one particular question that has had the Resident Evil community in meltdown is the one that asked: 'What games in the series would we like to see remade?' The question is open-ended, so there’s no multiple choice, meaning that fans could type in what they wanted.

I, like many others of the Resident Evil fanbase, entered Resident Evil Code: Veronica as a suggestion. Though I did also mention both Outbreak games as well as Dino Crisis for good measure. A link to the survey was shared on Reddit, and the thread was full of requests for the fan-favourite game. “Yeah I'd absolutely say that Code: Veronica seems like the more obvious candidate if not for the after-credits scene at the end of RE4R,” said Hindesite. “They're definitely setting up for 5 Remake, and it makes me think it's probably the next in line.”
“I’m not even part of the fandom (outside of 4) and I know for a fact Code: Veronica needs to happen,” karjoh07 said. “Code: Veronica please Capcom,” exclaimed porkybrah. There were also plenty of requests for Dino Crisis too.
Following the release of the RE2 and RE3 remakes, many hoped that Code: Veronica would be the next entry to receive the makeover treatment. After all, chronologically, it is technically the fourth mainline story. It’s also considered to be the last old-school Resident Evil game with its implementation of tank controls, and many fans believe that it’s now in need of a remake more so than any other game in the series.
In terms of numbered entries, Resident Evil 5 could be the next remake and if that were to happen, it would be an interesting prospect to see which direction the game would take. After all, horror is pretty much non-existent in RE5. As for Code: Veronica, that has plenty of horror, limited resources and a bucket load of RE cheese.

It’s interesting that Capcom is asking fans what they’d like to see remade next, rather than just jumping into Resident Evil 5. Perhaps with the question being asked, Capcom could remake Code: Veronica next if the community are vocal enough. Let’s make it happen!
In our review of the Resident Evil 4 remake, we said it’s “a brilliant action-horror game and I’ll no doubt play through it multiple times over the coming months. Based on how well this game plays, it feels like Capcom could apply their knowledge to a remake of Resident Evil 5, but that’s a conversation for another time.”
