Resident Evil fans will be pleased to hear that Capcom is going all-in on the next original Resident Evil game to ensure its success.
I say original Resident Evil game because while the remakes are built from the ground up they are retellings of existing games, not like Resident Evil 7: Biohazard or Resident Evil 8: Village.
Fear not though as the end-credit scene of Resident Evil 4 (2024) does hint at the fifth game getting the same treatment
While we don’t know much about Resident Evil 9 we do know it’s coming, and according to insiders Capcom is giving itself plenty of time to cook.

AestheticGamer, also known as DuskGolem, recently took to X to say “Here's a really small but truthful tidbit; Not only is Resident Evil 9 just an ambitious game, there hasn't been a non-remake Resident Evil game that's gotten the level of critical success to get a 90+ critical score. Hear Capcom is gunning really hard to make this great.”
They went on to say: “I know some will say, ‘Well of course they want to make a good game,’ but in this case I mean they're hyper aware they haven't had a mainline non-remake RE achieve a 90+ Metascore since RE4 OG 20 years ago. Their hope is RE9 will be received by critics & fans as a top-line entry.”
We have to say it does sound promising, but of course we’ll reserve judgement until the game has actually been shown off.
Of course we might get another remake before then of which there are many options to choose from, though I happen to have a few ideas of what they should remake next and how they should remake it…

As long as they bring back Leon Kennedy for the next mainline one, I’m happy, if they don’t, I’ll still be happy but less so.
