Resident Evil 9 is coming way sooner than we'd imagined, according to one of the most reliable industry insiders on all things Resident Evil.
It's fair to say Resident Evil fans have been eating better than a zombie loose in Raccoon City Police Department of late. In 2023, Capcom treated us to the Resident Evil 4 remake, a staggering reimagining of the classic game.
But the newer games are hardly slouching either: Resident Evil Village, the eighth mainline entry, is easily one of the best in the series.

"In the end, all these similarities and influences from Village's contemporaries both do and don't work," reads GAMINGbible's 8/10 review of Village.
"It feels in places pieced together, and in others truly exceptional in its genre. But the overarching experience is an undoubtedly fun one that expands on the foundations laid down by Resident Evil 7, and sets up the inevitable trilogy finale being planned for Resident Evil 9.
"Not all of the risks taken pay off, but when they do, Resident Evil Village is thrilling, spine-chilling and a worthy continuation of the groundwork laid by its predecessor."
It's also worth noting Resident Evil 7 absolutely slapped, so I'm incredibly keen to see how Capcom ends this trilogy with Resident Evil 9. And fortunately, it turns out we'll probably find out sooner than we'd originally hoped.

According to prominent Resident Evil insider AestheticGamer, who previously accurately leaked details of Resident Evil Village, claims that Resident Evil 9 could arrive as soon as January 2025.
This comes following original concerns that Resident Evil 9 had been internally delayed, though it seems these were simply "murmurs".
It is, of course, worth noting that AestheticGamer's track record isn't spotless, so take everything with the usual pinch of salt.
If Resident Evil 9 truly is being planned for an early 2025 release, then I would imagine we'll be seeing something official very soon.
