Rockstar Games fans are "officially done" with the developer after the disappointing announcement of the Red Dead Redemption 'remaster', for Nintendo Switch and PS4.
Leaks and rumours on the current-gen return of Red Dead Redemption 1 have run wild over the past few months. Some claimed it'd simply be a port, whereas others claimed it'd be a full-on remake in Red Dead Redemption 2's game engine.

The specualtion, theories and insider claims all came to a head yesterday when Rockstar officially announced a port of the game, including the fan-favourite Undead Nightmare DLC as predicted, for the Nintendo Switch and PS4.

Both versions will be available later this month, and cost $50/39.99 for both the Switch and PS4 versions. No changes have been made to the game, it’s literally just a port, and while the inclusion of the Undead Nightmare DLC is nice, the multiplayer mode won’t be present.
This was far from the remaster/remake fans were expecting, and it’s not gone down well in the community. It was even more of a slap to the face for PC players, who still haven’t got their own port of the game, and at this point may never will.
Disappointed fans took to social media and Reddit to voice their frustration, including one Reddit user called smoke_woods, who made a post saying: “I’m officially done with Rockstar man”, along with a picture of the new re-release.
Others quickly chimed in with their take, some claiming they weren’t surprised with Rockstar’s decision, and others baffled at why the company would choose the PS4 and Switch when it could have been done for current-gen and PC platforms.

“$50, Holy hell. While I found it for as low as $8 on Xbox. Which has a resolution boost.”
“Playstation 4??? The current last generation?”
“Exactly man. Can just get it on 360 for way cheaper. This was the final thing for me that killed my trust in the company.”
The Red Dead Redemption re-release will digitally launch on Nintendo Switch and PS4 on the 17th of August. Physical copies are also on the way but will arrive slightly later on the 13th of October. The game is also available on Xbox consoles via backwards compatibility.
