If Red Dead Redemption 3 follows the pattern started by the last game in the series, then it's almost certainly going to be another prequel, this one set many years before Arthur Morgan's illness and the Van der Linde gang's final days. Fans reckon we already have the perfect protagonist for such a game.
If you've been paying attention you'll know Rockstar Games plans to launch Red Dead Redemption 3 somewhere down the line, though it might not be the next game after GTA VI. Heck, at this stage we're not even sure if it releases this generation.
Take a look at some of the best Red Dead Redemption 2 wins and fails below!
While there are plenty of avenues Red Dead Redemption 3 could pursue, the general consensus seems to be that a young Landon Ricketts would be the perfect star of a third game.

We first met the ageing gunslinger Landon Ricketts in the original Red Dead Redemption, and while he doesn't appear in Red Dead Redemption 2, there are a few references to him.
John Marston meets Ricketts in a small town known as Chuparosa in Nuevo Paraíso, where the legendary gunslinger protected the locals as an unofficial sheriff. He's also the character who teaches Marston how to master the Dead Eye ability (don't think too hard about the fact Marston can use it in Red Dead Redemption 2). Simply put, Ricketts is the stuff of legend, and undoubtedly has a backstory that's waiting to be mined.
“Is it just me or does RDR 3 starring a young Landon Ricketts not sound perfect?” asked DayneAD on Reddit.
“I think it sounds pretty cool, they can continue the themes of myth, history and reality,” replied AnElusiveSomething. “Honestly, I just want them to make a cowboy game that takes place in the West before its decline. So much of Western media takes place when the West is dying.”

“Playing as a young Landon Ricketts would be perfect for that,” said Brahmus168. “All we know about him is that he was a famous gunslinger. We know he's a player-tier character and can use Dead Eye because he taught John how to get back into it.”
Perhaps my favourite idea, however, is the notion of a game that really just lets you be a badass cowboy. “I really REALLY want the next game to be a complete 180 and be called Red Dead Revenge," wrote one fan. "No more redemption and hope, only rage and hatred."
Yep, I am so here for Red Dead Revenge.
