The Red Dead Redemption series is full of secrets waiting to be discovered, some perhaps more strange than others but this might just be one of the strangest yet.
Being a Rockstar Games title, it should come as no surprise that the Red Dead Redemption series has had its fair share of myths talked about across social media for years with the likes of the Haunting of Tumbleweed instantly coming to mind. 2010’s Red Dead Redemption even acknowledged the infamous Big Foot myth from GTA: San Andreas in the Undead Nightmare expansion.

As for the mystery that is the subject of today’s story, Reddit user These-Note-4687 asked “Why is my horse blue and a different breed?”

“My horse should be a Breton, the kind you unlock on page one of the bounty hunter rewards, but after spending some time in Valentine, it turned bright blue and maybe a different breed altogether,” they continued. “How has this happened and what do I do to fix it?”
The most likely scenario is that this blue horse is just a result of a glitch that for some reason, apparently happens with rare breed horses in Red Dead Redemption 2. That being said, much of the thread responded with sarcastic humour.
“It came from My Little Pony,” said Shengpai. “Horse unlocked Super Saiyan Blue,” joked Professional-Draft77.

Jokes aside, other than being a likely glitch, Redditor YourDBDGF also suggested another possible scenario, especially as These-Note-4687 is playing Red Dead Online, and not Red Dead Redemption 2’s single-player campaign.
“There's a mod menu that can change horse colours, but they can't change the breed. If he's a different breed then he's not your horse,” explained YourDBDGF.
They continued: “The modder just mounted him and changed the colour, maybe some physical features depending on what modifiers they had turned on. For future reference and for anyone else wondering, you can just respawn the horse and he'll be back to normal.”
Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It’s also backwards compatible with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S but sadly does not have 60 frames per second support.
