The rumours keep on swirling. From new non-console hardware to a redesigned PlayStation 5, insiders are convinced that Sony is gearing up to announce something. I’d imagine we’ll see another State of Play take place this summer. Regardless of whether it confirms or disproves the hardware theories, I’m sure it’ll give us something to talk about.
In the meantime, Sony is hard at work rolling out a steady stream of updates to the PS5. A major update recently saw Discord integrated into the console which I’ve already found to be incredibly handy. If you’ve been one of the users experiencing technical issues with the display of your Game Library, those issues have now been rectified too. The latest update regards the console’s accessibility settings and users are saying it’s something the PS5 should’ve had at launch.

As reported by GameRant, the PS5’s latest update applies to the PlayStation Store. Users will now be able to view tags from the storefront that identify which accessibility features certain titles have. If you’re interested in purchasing a game, you can click on ‘View Product’. There, users will be able to search via filters including high contrast visuals, larger text, audio and directional cues, adjustable controls, colourblind modes, and more.

That way, it should be much quicker and easier to see if a game is suited to an individual player's needs before purchasing. I think we can all agree this is an incredible feature that’s certain to make gaming more accessible for all. It’s something Sony has really pushed in recent years.
Both The Last of Us Part I and God of War Ragnarök offered the widest suites of accessibility options to date, with Ragnarök taking home the Innovation in Accessibility award at last year’s Game Awards. Hopefully we’ll soon start to see this level of dedication in a wider variety of games.
