Courtesy of Marvel’s launch of the Ultimate Universe, the Ultimate Spider-Man series has been going from strength to strength with its 13th volume being recently released.
Now that Peter Parker is happily married to Mary-Jane Watson with the pair sharing two children together, Richard and May Parker, you would think that our original Spider-Man would be ready to retire.
However, when Peter is kidnapped alongside Harry Osborn, it is up to his son to take on the mantle of the Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man.
Now that May and Richard are aware of Peter’s alter-ego, it isn’t that far-fetched that Richard would don an all-black suit and try to rescue his father and that is exactly what happens in Ultimate Spider-Man #13.

Written by Jonathan Hickman, Ultimate Spider-Man #13 follows the events of Peter and Harry being held captive by Kraven the Hunter who is now a member of Kingpin’s Sinister Six.
However, when a black-clad Spider-Man is seen swinging through the streets of New York, it soon becomes clear that Kraven has somebody else to worry about.
When it is revealed that this is in fact Richard Parker (not the tiger from Life of Pi), who has been working with the symbiote to guard the city, it is clear that Peter’s son has some powers of his own.
Not only that but the final pages of Ultimate Spider-Man #13 introduces us to the new Spider-Man’s arch-nemesis, none other than Black Cat herself…
