Per last night's State of Play, one of the titles that we've been impatiently awaiting for the last couple of years for PC is on its way to PlayStation 5.
Baldur's Gate III was also being developed for Stadia, however, we all know how that shook out, so I suppose it's a small blessing that those team members have been shifted to the PlayStation 5. Larian Studios is skipping the previous generation of consoles as Baldur's Gate III is simply too ambitious to work well on slightly lower grade gizmos. As such, the announcement that it's launching on PlayStation 5 at the same time as PC should fill fantasy fans with glee, alongside this new footage of gameplay features like split-screen co-op, cross-save progression, and the goodies included with the Digital Deluxe Edition.
Take a look at the latest trailer for Baldur's Gate III below:
You might recognise necromancer General Ketheric Thorm's voice, and if you don't, then I'm sure you'll be kicking yourself soon. It is, of course, the legendary J. K. Simmons who plays Jonah J. Jameson in the Marvel movies. Theories are running rampant and it looks like the general and his army of the dead were culpable for a part of the Shadowlands curse and he appears to be one of the three chosen of the Absolute. This'll be clear to those who had their eyes peeled in the early access period, though a fair few players were only interested in who they could bonk and how quickly.

In case you missed it, next month's free PlayStation Plus Essential games were also revealed during the State of Play last night. Subscribers will be able to claim Battlefield 2042, Code Vein and Minecraft Dungeons from 7 March.
Baldur's Gate III comes to PC and PlayStation 5 on 31 August, 2023.
