Xbox getting massive free open-world RPG with heavy Zelda vibes

Kiss your free time good bye

Xbox is set to receive a once PlayStation exclusive next month and this open-world RPG comes with some heavy Legend of Zelda vibes.

Next month will finally welcome the much-loved Genshin Impact to Xbox Series X/S consoles after it was first announced to be making the transition earlier this year.

Check out the PS4 launch trailer for Genshin Impact below!

Until now, the action RPG/gacha game has been a PlayStation, PC and mobile phone exclusive so having it finally make the move to Xbox is a big win for Microsoft.

That is because it is safe to say that Genshin Impact is a pretty big deal.

“Step into Teyvat, a vast world teeming with life and flowing with elemental energy,” its official synopsis reads.

“You and your sibling arrived here from another world.

Separated by an unknown god, stripped of your powers, and cast into a deep slumber, you now awake to a world very different from when you first arrived.”

Since its launch back in 2020, the anime-style game produced by MiHoYo/HoYoverse has earned over $5 billion from its player base.

Although the game itself is free to download, it includes in-game microtransactions as is the style with the gacha game genre.

Genshin Impact features a story, yes, but players will mainly be interested in growing their team roster by “collecting” characters.

This is either done through grinding in-game challenges or just outright spending money in the hopes that you are lucky enough to roll the character you want.

Despite HoYoverse also being the brains behind fellow gacha games Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero in recent years, Genshin Impact remains the biggest gacha game globally.

We can imagine that trend will continue with Genshin now making its way to Xbox Series X/S consoles on 20 November.

Not only that but those who also have an Xbox Game Pass subscription can earn some in-game rewards.
