Players on Xbox can now get their hands on a free demo for one of 2025’s most interesting-looking RPGs, more than a week ahead of its official release date.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is an upcoming spin-off title in the Like a Dragon series, featuring fan-favourite character Goro Majima.
You’ll have to wait until February 21 to get your hands on the full release of the game, but if you own an Xbox you can get a free taster for the game ahead of time.

That’s because, as of today, you can snag a free demo for Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza, so you can decide whether or not you wanna grab it on day one.
It seems there’s a pretty lengthy snippet of the game included too, as the description of the demo on the Xbox storefront states that can “explore and fight your way through the vibrant city of Honolulu, then venture to the secret criminal haven Madlantis, where pirates engage in deadly naval battles for sport.”
It also states that there are two unique fighting styles to choose from in the demo, so it definitely sounds like there’s a decent amount of content waiting for us in the full game.
The demo for the game is also available on Steam, and it’s already garnered a lot of positive reviews.

The demo for Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza on Steam is currently sitting at a "Very Positive" review score with roughly 230 reviews (as of writing), over 93% of which are positive.
Provided that the Xbox Series S/X versions of the game don’t have any technical issues specific to the systems, that’s a pretty good indication of its quality.
As always though, make sure you wait for the reviews - just in case. In the meantime though, the demo should give you a decent taster of what’s to come when Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza drops on February 21.
