If you tuned into last year’s major gaming showcases, you likely saw The First Berserker: Khazan in action.
It’s previously cropped up at both The Game Awards and Gamescom’s Opening Night Live.
Developed by Neople and set to be published by NEXON, The First Berserker: Khazan is a “hardcore” action RPG that you can sample now courtesy of its free demo ahead of its official launch on 27 March.

If you’re familiar with the Dungeon Fighter Online universe, this is essentially a spin-off of that, centring around Khazan who just so happens to be, you’ll never guess, the first berserker.
If that means nothing to you though, worry not. As a prequel of sorts, you don’t need any prior knowledge to enjoy what The First Berserker: Khazan has to offer.
The game will see you embody the role of Khazan, a great general of the Pell Los Empire who has found himself exiled to the snowy mountains, narrowly escaping death.
It’s up to you to exact revenge on your enemies, mastering your combat skills to do so.

That combat is said to blend “flashy hack-and-slash” mechanics with “hardcore difficulty” so I sense this is definitely a game that’ll appeal to fans of Elden Ring and FromSoftware’s other titles.
Take a look at The First Berserker: Khazan in action below.
What sets The First Berserker: Khazan apart though is its aesthetics. The game uses 3D cel-shaded graphics, and you may find yourself dying to more than a few enemies simply because you’re so enraptured by the stunning visuals.

As I said, a demo is now available which allows you to sample the game’s first two missions with all progress carrying over should you pick up the full release.
Do note that difficulty can only be adjusted once you’ve completed the first mission, I suppose so everybody can get to grips with the mechanics without being slaughtered.
Or maybe we do get instantly slaughtered. I’ve yet to pick the demo up, so I’m not entirely sure.
As you may be aware of from the headline of this article, the demo is available for Xbox users to enjoy now, but only on Xbox Series X/S.

The demo isn’t exclusive to Xbox though, with PlayStation 5 and PC users via Steam also able to get involved.
