A creepy little game to play

You’ve got the chance to get your hands on a slice of one of 2024’s weirdest games, as Xbox currently has a demo available for Slitterhead.

You don’t need Xbox Game Pass to download and play this bizarre horror game, you can simply log in and grab it from the Xbox store.

Slitterhead can be played for free on Xbox via a new demo

Slitterhead is the latest game from Keiichiro Toyama, the creator of Silent Hill.

It’s a bonkers horror story set in a closely-packed metropolis based on the famed Kowloon City.

Sadly, while I was reviewing this odd adventure, my Xbox decided that was the best chance to break down.

So, here’s a mini review, that will hopefully inspire you to play the Xbox demo and perhaps give the full game a shot.

Slitterhead is the kind of B-movie shlock that kept the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 era going.

It’s not going to turn any heads, except in a violent yank, but it’s off-the-wall story accompanied by the blood-spattering gore, will satisfy fans of the genre.

It suffers in places from a bit of jank in the controls, but the combat, along with the body-jumping supernatural aspect, kept me coming back for more oddity.

This isn’t a game that’s going to win any prizes for writing, but it’s got that cheesy horror style that is reminiscent of 1980s Japanese gore flicks.

On top of this, Slitterhead has some of the craziest monster designs you’ll see in a modern game, with plenty of tentacles, teeth, spikes, and outlandish slavering.

The demo will give you a chance to try out some of the unique gameplay elements, like the aforementioned body-swapping.

Plus, you’ll get to batter a few monsters while starting out the journey through a Kafka-esque nightmare world fuelled by body horror that would make Cronenberg jealous.

Get on this while you’ve got the chance!
