Halo Infinite, the latest in the line of 343 Industries-developed Halo titles, is getting a big update this November that’s adding a brand new third-person mode, and the fan response is very, very mixed.
The new mode was on the official Halo Twitter account, alongside a work in progress trailer. From there, it probably won’t take you long to spot a negative comment or two.
“Once a pioneer of gaming now chases the trends of games made after it. Sad to see but what can you do”, commented user EndymionYT.

“Really glad we’re getting a third person mode that no one will use instead of new weapons, vehicles and maps that aren’t made in forge :)” replied FizzAgain, assumedly through gritted teeth.
Now hey, that all might sound very negative, but this is Twitter we’re talking about. I’m pretty sure it’s illegal to post anything positive on there.
Responses elsewhere on the internet were a little less mixed. Some folks on Reddit even actually like how this looks. I didn’t know we were allowed to actually like stuff in 2024.
“That 3rd person preview actually looks really fun tbh, definately gonna check it out. It’s also nice to be able to see the armor I earned, especially after playing games like warhammer 4k lately” said user monkeymystic on Reddit, in a post about the upcoming update.

“This is really cool. I’d maybe want the character model to be a bit further to the left of the screen, but I’m very into this.” replied Three_Froggy_Problem.
Look, I’m not a Halo guy. I like it and all, it’s just never grabbed me the way it grabbed other folks. That being said, I’m really not sure what the issue is here.
I know Halo Infinite has its problems, but this is a free update. And assumedly, this mode will only be included in specific playlists, so you could always just not play it. Looks fun to me though.
