A brand new Gears of War game is currently in its early development stages, but we’ve already got some great news regarding the project; Marcus and Dom are back, baby.
Gears of War: E-Day was officially revealed back in June with the release of its trailer at the Xbox Games Showcase, and will follow the early days of both Marcus and Dom’s time in the Coalition of Ordered Governments.
The game is set to release on the Xbox Series X/S and is supposed to serve as a prequel of sorts to the events of the first Gears of War, which led some to assume that we might not see the return of series veterans John DiMaggio and Carlos Ferro in their respective roles.

Thankfully, in celebration of the first game’s birthday, the official Gears of War account that both actors will be returning to reprise the two lead characters.
“We are so back…” stated @GearsofWar yesterday, “On today's 18th anniversary of Gears of War, we're proud to share that John DiMaggio and @RealCarlosFerroare reprising their roles as the iconic voices of Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago in Gears of War: E-Day.”
Whilst a few people in the thread were just generally confused as to why this needed to be confirmed in the first place, the majority were naturally thrilled to learn that their favourite locust-killing soldiers will be voiced by their original actors.
“This was the number one thing I needed confirmation on before being on board with the new game…” replied @DXLR8RSXM, “full steam ahead now!”

User @BigTomAtkinson agreed, stating “Needed them. They are the characters not just their voices.”
There’s no current word on the exact release date of Gears of War: E-Day, but it’s probably fair to assume that we won’t be seeing the game any time in the next year - considering how recent the announcement of its existence was.
