Could Gears of War be returning this June with Gears of War 6? If an actor from the franchise’s tease is to be believed, we’re about to get a new game announcement.

This feels like massive news after the original Gears of War creator told fans “it’s time to move on”, seemingly ready to remove themself from the equation; their “journey” destined to continue away from the franchise.

At the time, fans were left reeling.

But now there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel.

The last Gears of War game to launch was Gears of War Tactics, a spin-off from the main franchise which also acts as a prequel to the first game.

Although fans were reasonably satisfied by this outing, they’ve been waiting for Gears of War 6 to answer some questions they’ve harboured – like what happened to JD.

When a Twitter fan asked what had happened to JD in Gears of War 5, querying if his death is “canon”, JD’s actor, Liam McIntyre, had a little something to say.

It wasn’t much, but it’s been enough to get fans hyped about a possible reveal. They said, “I have no idea. I think Gears of War tells us all in June.”

Short and simple, yet laced with enough hope to send fans wild.

“About damn time. Let's gooooo,” said one thrilled Redditor.

Another added, “They [the devs] took their time and I think it was a good decision. After Gears 5 I felt like I could go a while without a new Gears [...] Now, nearly five years later, I’m so ready to get back into a new entry.”

Unfortunately, that’s all the details we have, and it’s not a lot as it is. There genuinely could be an announcement waiting for us in June, but until we get confirmation, or see said announcement for ourselves, we advise you try to stay calm.

We know that’s going to be hard, but we believe in you.
