For those of you waiting for Baldur’s Gate 3 to land on Xbox, director Swen Vincke has provided an update on when we should expect to hear a release date.
When 2023 began, it’s safe to say that many of us assumed The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Starfield would be the major GOTY contenders. The former two of those games do have the fact that they’re sequels perhaps working against them, making Starfield the most likely contender. Every year though, we’re hit with a few surprises. I don’t think any of us expected Immortality to dominate at last year’s Game Awards nominations in quite the way it did. This year, it looks like Baldur’s Gate 3 could be the surprise underdog. The game has proved to be a colossal success and Xbox players are keen to dive in.
Take a look at Baldur’s Gate 3 in action below.
Baldur’s Gate 3 landed on PC last month. The PlayStation 5 version is then set to release tomorrow on 6 September. The Xbox version was previously delayed though after developers cited issues with getting the game to work properly on the Xbox Series S.

It was recently confirmed that Larian Studios has come to an agreement with Microsoft allowing them to bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to consoles this year. This breaks the parity agreement Microsoft have which means typically Series S and Series X versions must have the same features across both versions. The Series S Baldur’s Gate 3 won’t have split-screen co-op though as part of the landmark deal.
Now, in an interview with IGN, director Vincke has added that the game is on the way soon. “It's 2023. And 2023 is narrowing, so it's already pretty precise in my book. Between September and November... So, as fast as we can honestly,” he said. We don’t have long to wait then.
