A change in Twitch’s guidelines resulted in PewDiePie getting banned from the platform.
If you weren’t there to witness the sudden removal with your own eyes, you may doubt it even happened because the ban lasted all of 15 minutes.
Naturally, when any streamer gets banned, especially in the current climate, we question why such a decision was made.

Unlike the allegations against Dr Disrespect and MrBeast, PewDiePie’s Twitch ban wasn’t to do with inappropriate conduct but rather a alteration in Twitch’s rules.
In September, Twitch made changes to its guidelines to tackle the issue of impersonation on its platform.
The updated rules state, “Impersonation is a malicious practice that compromises trust in our service and can harm the target of impersonation.
“Content or activity meant to impersonate an individual or organization is prohibited, including impersonation of Twitch staff, celebrities, companies, or friends.”

You may be wondering why this would impact PewDiePie; even more so if you’re not a loyal follower of his.
In 2023, the streamer sold the rights to his account. As such, he technically isn’t the one streaming all of this content.
Seeing as the account has been steadily gaining a million plus following since this happened, it seems odd that Twitch should ban PewDiePie now.
However, the link could come from accounts in the name of streamers Shroud, and Lirik also generating a lot of content at the same time.

Given that all three were drawing in big numbers, and aren’t owned by the creators they’re sharing the content of, Amazon’s streaming service took action.
It was action that was short lived, though.
In under 15 minutes, PewDiePie’s account was reinstated, as too were Lirik and Shroud’s.
Of course, when it comes to YouTuber PewDiePie, this isn’t the first time he’s been associated with some form of ban.

That said, unlike previous times, there doesn’t seem to be anything potentially untoward to address.
