The Witcher 4’s release date has been raised into question as a placeholder date has appeared online, it seems like wishful thinking though.
Now that The Witcher 4 is in full-on development with CD Projekt Red, many fans are now anticipating when we’ll see the game with our own eyes.
Hopefully it lives up to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in size and scale, but it undoubtedly will right?
Little is known about the next game in the series apart from it probably won’t feature Geralt as the protagonist, a smart move as his story feels like it concluded itself well and it’s probably about time we got a new face to lead the franchise.

Confirmation on what the game will be like isn’t going to surface for quite a while though, but what fans really want to know right now is when it’s coming out.
There’s reason to think its release was delayed after Cyberpunk 2077 took more time than CD Projekt Red anticipated, but now that the developer is fully-focused on its next game development might finally speed up a bit.
GOG, a platform owned by the The Witcher publisher, is currently displaying a placeholder release date of December 2025. This isn’t out of the ordinary as if there’s no release date it automatically goes to December until one exists, but the fact is says 2025 is confusing fans to say the least.
Talking about it on a Reddit thread they’re not convinced at all by the estimated launch date, saying realistically it has to release sometime in 2026/2027 at the earliest.

“Don’t need the game next year but I’d love to see a trailer maybe?” said one Witcher fan and another added that CD Projekt Red need to take as much time as they need on the game saying “we don't want a Cyberpunk 2077 situation again.”
It’s doubtful the game will launch next year, but we can’t rule out a teaser of sorts, hopefully giving us an idea as to who the protagonist could be.
