Steam users have a new freebie to try on its digital store, and it’s one for the OG Final Fantasy fans out there.
This year has given us some truly marvelous games, so many in fact that it feels like 2024 has gone by in a flash after sinking so many hours into games like Astro Bot and Metaphor ReFantazio.

While the AAA offering has been splendid, there are other games out there that deserve praise, one of which being Fantasian Neo Dimension which launched on PlayStation and PC earlier this month.

The cult-classic has been hailed to the same standards as the old Final Fantasy games, specifically the ones played on the OG PlayStation as it takes a lot of cues from them in its artstyle, gameplay, world design etc.
If you’re an RPG fan and haven’t tried it yet I’d recommend giving it a go, but if you don’t want to commit to a full-on purchase you’ll be happy to hear you can try it for free on Steam.
The game’s Steam page now includes a free demo that’ll give you a feel for the story, combat and exploration, and I’m pretty sure the same demo is available on PlayStation platforms as well.
One of the key highlights of the game is the way the world was created, as each “level” is actually a 3D diorama that the player’s characters are dropped into.

There’s an impressive amount of detail to them and it makes exploring all the avenues and alleyways a treat as there are often freebies knocking around.
Fantasian Neo Dimension is a game for those who long to return to the old-school style of RPGs, so if the latest, more action-orientated, Final Fantasy games haven’t been your cup of tea, give this one a go.
