New PlayStation hardware has been announced, and while they’re absolutely gorgeous many fans are wary of parting with their hard-earned cash for them.
Yesterday, the official PlayStation social media channels shared a first-look at the new Midnight Black range of accessories, including a new PlayStation Portal, DualSense Edge, Pulse Elite headset and Pulse earbuds.
This line-up comes after a collection celebrating an extraordinary 30 years of PlayStation
Sporting an elegant black finish, these accessories look wonderful, and match the Midnight Black version of the PlayStation 5 if that’s the one you own.

It’s one of many variations to its hardware PlayStation has released so far, but don’t worry, these ones won’t be as hard to find as the 30th anniversary versions, though I’d argue they don’t look as good.
The Midnight Black collection will be available from 16 January, and while many fans are excited to see it drop, others are taking issue with the range.
Specifically, fans are concerned that the issue with the Pulse headset not being properly fitted for a variety of head sizes hasn’t been fixed, and are as you can expect hesitant to drop any money on a headset that could break shortly after using it.
One commenter said: “That Pulse Elite regardless of the color isn't fit for larger head sizes and will break within a year of use if you have a larger head size … Also the PS Link is one of the worst stable range connections I've ever tested. Be aware before you consider it!”

Others took offence that the collection wasn’t released during the festive period last year, and many also found it odd that the line-up didn’t include any plates for the PS5 Pro, to let you have the colour you want for your console.
Whether PlayStation has another announcement coming up regarding the PS5 Pro plates is unknown, but now let’s count down the days till the Midnight Black collection is released to the public.
