Even though PlayStation Plus has been a mixed bag recently, nobody can deny how fantastic one of its newly added free open world games is. Actually, we’d argue it’s beyond fantastic, but don’t take our word for it, take the word of the entire internet.
Okay, so some people won’t be fussed about the new free title, but come on, it’s GTA 5, a legendary game that’s amassed such a devoted fandom that when the GTA 6 trailer dropped, people went into nothing short of a frenzy as they scrambled to watch it.
Oh, and did you see that the GTA Trilogy has been added to Netflix?
That’s right, my thieving, sneaky, car-loving folks, GTA 5 has come to PS Plus to save the service from months of lacklustre offerings. Undoubtedly, this move won’t spare the service from the intense scrutiny it’s been under, but it will warm people up to the idea of buying or renewing their subscription.

When the latest free PS Plus games were announced, one gamer joked, “Sorry guys, I'm the one person who held back on buying GTA 5 recently who they designed the catalogue update for.” To which another user replied, “You joke but I have actually been contemplating buying this recently, so I'm stoked.”
Oh yes, while some of us jumped the gun and spent money to get a copy of the game without the need for PS Plus, others saw their patience rewarded. That being said, for those annoyed that they spent money only to learn they could have got the game for free mere days later, here’s a little reminder from a helpful gamer: “It’ll leave PS Plus eventually so at least you get to keep it.”
Thanks to GTA 6 reigniting our passion for the Rockstar Games franchise, now feels like the perfect time to return to GTA 5 to prepare for what’s the come in 2025. We’re primed. We’re ready.
